Throwers Have Spectacular Day at Hurricane Alumni Invitational, Westminster Invitational

The Youngstown State men's and women's track and field teams were in action on Friday afternoon at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational and Westminster Invitational.

The Penguins recorded a handful of top five finishes in various events including first place finishes from Sammy Dyson and Joe Pfeffer in the hammer throw at Westminster. 

Hurricane Alumni Invitational

In the men's javelin, Noah Drudy recorded a third place finish while Jake Wilson finished fourth. Drudy posted a throw of 60.81m on his third attempt while Wilson recorded a mark of 59.47m on his fourth attempt.

In the men's hammer throw, Zach Gehm finished in sixth after throwing the hammer a personal-best mark of 47.50m on his fourth attempt. For the women, Nicolette Kreatsoulas recorded a seventh place finish after throwing the hammer 53.64m on her second attempt. 

In the women's high jump, Abby Jones finished fifth after clearing a season-best mark of 1.71m, while freshman Olivia Jones was ninth, clearing the bar at a personal-best mark of 1.66m. 

Westminster Invitational

Dyson finished first in the hammer throw while fellow teammate Reshanna Simon was the runner-up in the event. Dyson recorded a personal-best throw of 47.22m while Simon reached a mark of 46.07m!

For the men, Pfeffer won the event with a throw of 53.08m while Andrew Hallof also competed in the event. 

The rest of the Penguins will be in action tomorrow beginning at 10:00 a.m. from the Westminster Invitational. The Bison Outdoor Classic and Hurricane Alumni Invitational are scheduled to get underway at 2:00 p.m.
