Youngstown, Ohio - Chad Zallow, Collin Harden, Alan Burns, and the men's and women's 4x100m relay teams earned wins for the Youngstown State track and field teams on Friday afternoon from the Northeast Ohio Quad at Farmers National Bank Field.
Alan Burns highlighted a successfull afternoon for the Penguins by winning the 5000m run with a personal-best time of 14:39.36. Burns also set a new facility record with his performance today. Freshman Chris Butler took third after posting a time of 15:15.22. For the women, Xena Maali ran a time of 19:49.35 and Emma Hunkus finished in 20:43.66.
Chad Zallow won the 110m hurdles and tied the facility record with a time of 13.71 seconds running in Heat 1 of the event. Zallow ties Milwaukee's Nate Pozolinski who set the record back at the 2017 Horizon League Outdoor Championships.
A few events later, Zallow went on to win the 200m dash after finishing with a time of 21.63 seconds. The Penguins also had third, fourth and fifth place finishes from Jamynk Jackson (21.85), Josh Beaumont (21.93), and Brendon Lucas (21.99). Anderson was eighth after finishing in a time of 22.62 seconds.
Collin Harden won the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.283 seconds as he edged out Ashland's Trevor Bassitt by .002 seconds. On the women's side, Mara Wilson was fifth with a time of 1:06.44 and Lauren Swan was eighth after clocking a time of 1:11.40.
The men's 4x100 relay team of Jamynk Jackson, Collin Harden, Josh Beaumont and Brendon Lucas won the event with a time of 41.55 seconds. The women's relay team of Antonella LaMonica, Suerethia Henderson, Jaliyah Elliott and Teneisha Myers also won the event after finishing with a time of 46.62 seconds!
In the 110m hurdles for the men, Myron Anderson took fifth after finishing with the fastest time in his heat at 14.79 seconds. Freshman Jonathan Blackmon also competed in the event and clocked a time of 15.55 seconds.
Cody Sikora placed third in the 400m dash after finishing in a time of 49.58 seconds. Pierlus Stewart finished sixth (50.32), Glen Knowles took seventh (50.41) and Stefan Pontius posted a time of 54.13 seconds.
Antonella LaMonica captured a fourth place finish in the 200m dash after finishing with a time of 26.17 seconds.
In the 1500m run, Jennifer Muhlenkamp finished sixth with a time of 4:47.30.
Terron Taylor was the lone competitor in the high jump for the Penguins and placed second after clearing a personal-best height of 2.03m.
On the women's side, Abby Jones finished third after clearing the bar at 1.69m on her final attempt. Olivia Jones took fourth after clearing 1.61m on her second attempt and Kira Neef was sixth after clearing the bar at 1.56m. Coreen Crosby, Camryn Jarrett, Logan Mitchell and Hailey Puckett also competed in the event.
In the triple jump, Challis had a leap of 13.33m on his final jump while DuJuan Taylor had a best effort of 13.13m. On the women's side, Killins recorded a jump of 11.08m on her second attempt.
In the pole vault, Dylan Latone led the way with an eighth place finish after clearing the bar at 4.74m. Wyatt Lefker and Jett Murphy also competed in the pole vault while both clearing a mark of 4.59m.
The Guins are back in action tomorrow at 10 a.m. for the throwing events which are being held at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex on the campus of Akron.
