Youngstown State track and field student-athletes Chad Zallow, Jaynee Corbett and Abby Jones received U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Academic honors the organization announced on Thursday. Additionally, both the men's and women's programs were named All-Academic Teams for 2017-18.
A total of 874 women and 624 men earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the 2017-18 track & field seasons.
To qualify for USTFCCCA individual All-Academic honors, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards: Student-athletes must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org during indoor season or must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds) during the outdoor season.
Overall, 361 total teams were honored for their academics by the USTFCCCA, including 220 women's teams and 141 men's programs. To qualify, programs must have a cumulative team GPA of 3.00.
