The Youngstown State track and field program is scheduled to compete in eight meets during the 2019-20 indoor season, head coach Brian Gorby announced on Thursday.
The Penguins will host four meets of their own beginning with the season-opening YSU Icebreaker on Friday, December 6, at 3 p.m. from the WATTS.
YSU returns to the track in 2020 as they host the YSU Invitational on Friday, January 17 at noon.
The following week, the Penguins will travel to Clemson, S.C. to compete in the Bob Pollock Meet on January 24 & 25. The Penguins will compete against eight Power 5 track and field programs which includes Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, University of Central Florida, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.
The Guins will return home on Janurary 31 and February 1 when they host the YSU National Mid Major Invitational. Day one is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. while day two gets underway at 10 a.m.
YSU will continue a busy month of February on the 6th, 7th and 8th when they travel to the Stile Field House to compete at the Akron Invitational.
The following week, the Guins will head to Kent State to take part in the Doug Raymond Invitational/Qualifier on February 14 & 15 at the Kent State Field House.
YSU will get one tuneup in before the league championships when they return to Akron on February 21 to participate in the Al Campbell Invite.
The Penguins are set to host the Horizon League Indoor Championships for the ninth consecutive year beginning on Saturday, February 29 and concluding on Sunday, March 1. Both days of competition are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
YSU closes out the indoor season on March 13 & 14 when they compete in the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
