Schlegel Named Preseason Second-Team All-Horizon League by CSM

College Sports Madness has placed Youngstown State junior forward Heidi Schlegel on its Preseason Horizon League Second Team, the website announced last week.

Schlegel, a native of Wapakoneta, Ohio, is coming off a season in which she averaged 9.8 points and 4.5 rebounds as the Penguins' first player off the bench. She ranked fourth in the Horizon League in free-throw percentage, 10th in steals, 12th in offensive rebounds and 23rd in scoring in 2012-13. She is YSU's top returner in scoring average.

Wright State junior guard Kim Demmings was selected as the preseason player of the year by CSM, and she was joined on the first team by UIC guard Rachel Story, Milwaukee guard Angela Rodriguez, Oakland forward Olivia Nash and UIC forward Katie Hannemann. Cleveland State guard Cori Coleman, Green Bay guard Megan Lukan, Milwaukee forward Ashley Green and Wright State forward Breanna Stucke joined Schlegel on the second team.
