Benjamin Named Horizon League Player of the Week by College Sports Madness

Youngstown State junior women's basketball player Indiya Benjamin has been named the College Sports Madness Horizon League Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 4, the website announced on Monday.

Benjamin averaged 14.5 points, six rebounds and 4.5 assists in a pair of games for the Penguins last week. She scored 21 points, including five in the final 90 seconds, to help Youngstown State rally for a 69-68 win over Saint Francis U on Saturday. She added seven assists and a career-best eight rebounds against the Red Flash. Benjamin scored eight points and had four rebounds at Northern Arizona on Monday.

For the year, Benjamin is averaging 10.1 points and has scored 21 points twice. She's also contributing 4.6 assists, which ranks fourth in the Horizon League, and 4.4 rebounds per contest.

Benjamin and the Penguins will play host to Akron on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Beeghly Center.
