The Youngstown State women's basketball coaches will begin a busy camp season this weekend as they host their first of four camp offerings of the summer.
The staff will welcome high-level high school players to campus this Sunday for an Elite Camp. The camp is designed for players entering grades 9-12 who are looking to play at the collegiate level and want to showcase their skills. The camp will be heavy on competition and scrimmages with drills and station work also on the agenda. The camp will cost $80, which includes lunch, and go from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For campers who cannot make the first session or wish to showcase their skills twice this summer, the staff will hold another Elite Camp on Aug. 5.
The staff will welcome area youth basketball players to campus for four days of an Individual Half Day Camp that runs from June 25-28. The camp is for players entering grades 4-8 and will focus on basic fundamentals, such as ball-handling, passing, shooting, defense and rebounding. There will be individual and team competitions where awards will be given. Campers will be separated into groups based on age and skill level, and there will be a maximum of 10 campers per instructor. The cost is $130, and the camp will go from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each of the four days.
The annual Team Shootout will be June 24, and it will be designed to help coaches develop winning programs and allow players to find new ways to stay on top of the game over the summer. Teams are guaranteed four games with certified high school officials. The cost is $280, and a discount is available for coaches who bring multiple teams.
Online registration is available through PenguinsCamps.com, or players can fill out the registration form on YSUsports.com. Questions should be directed to Coach Andy Crane at email@example.com.
All YSU women's basketball camps are open to any and all entrants.
