Youngstown State freshman Alexis Grim averaged 214 over five games to finish fourth in the individual standings, and the Penguins sit fifth in the team ranks after two days at the Crusader Classic.

Grim broke 200 in four of her five games and posted a high of 258, the highest game by a Penguin in program history. She totaled 1,070 pins, which was just 24 behind the leader.

The Penguins went 2-3 in their five team games on the day, but they moved up one spot in total pins from sixth on Friday to fifth after Saturday. The Penguins' wins came over No. 13 Tulane (976-845) and Aurora (856-770), and they fell to Maryville (1,015-861), No. 1 Nebraska (1,023-965) and No. 11 Central Missouri (1,010-953).

Behind Grim, Nikki Mendez averaged 195 to place 20th. They were the only two Penguins to bowl in all five matches. Ashley Kolb averaged 179.75 in four games, and Rachel Darrow averaged 166 in four.

Youngstown State will bowl a traditional team game against No. 14 Wisconsin-Whitewater to start competition on Sunday. The 11 teams in the tournament will then be bracketed based on total pins and bowl two best-of-seven Baker matches to determine the final standings.
