Bowling Posts Two Wins in Day One at KU Invitational

The Youngstown State women's bowling team started its spring schedule with a pair of victories at the KU Invitational at Hiester Lanes in Reading, Pa.

The Penguins posted their two best Baker matches of the season in their first tournament action in nearly 11 weeks. YSU totaled 1,011 pins in a win over Morgan State to start the morning, and the Penguins surpassed that in a 1,038-939 win over Howard later in the day.

YSU's losses were to No. 7 Fairleigh Dickinson, No. 10 UMES, No. 12 Delaware State and No. 18 Adelphi. The loss to FDU was by three pins.

The Penguins finished the day with 5,687 pins, which ranked ninth in the 26-team field. YSU averaged 189.6 in their 30 Baker games in the day.

Youngstown State will bowl in six traditional matches on Saturday beginning at 9:25 a.m.
