The Youngstown State bowling team went 2-0 in head-to-head matches and registered its third straight fourth-place finish to conclude play at the Crusaders Classic on Sunday. The tournament was held at Lakewood Bowl in Richton Park, Ill. and was hosted by Valparaiso.

The Penguins totaled 2,683 pins in three Baker games on Sunday, which was fourth behind Monmouth, Nebraska and Drury in the 13-team field. For the weekend, YSU's 11,609 pins ranked fourth behind Nebraska, Wisconsin-Whitewater and Central Missouri. Youngstown State also placed fourth in Friday's round of five Baker matches and Saturday's round of five traditional matches.

The Penguins began the day with an 885-816 victory over No. 22 Maryville, and they followed that up with a 917-881 win over Drury. YSU then bowled an 881 in an uncontested match to finish the tournament.

Youngstown State finished the three-day tournament ahead of No. 22 Maryville, No. 24 Lincoln Memorial and No. 25 Valparaiso, and it was 52 pins behind No. 15 Central Missouri. The tournament was originally scheduled to have a traditional three-day format that concluded with bracket matches on Sunday, but it was changed due to a severe winter storm in Chicagoland that created uncertainty in team's travel plans. Final results were based on total pinfall from the 13 games.

Youngstown State will bowl at the James Brown Invitational next weekend at AFMF Towson Lanes in Towson, Md.
