Penguins Drop Three Close Baker Matches in First Day at Hawk Flight Invite

The Youngstown State bowling team had three Baker matches decided by seven pins or fewer in the first day of the Hawk Flight Invite on Friday. The tournament is being held at King Pin Lanes in Egg Harbor Township, N.J.

The Penguins won their first match of the day 932-717 over Caldwell, but they were on the short end in their final four matches. Three of those matches were hotly contested as YSU lost by four to Monmouth (821-817), six to Felician (856-850) and seven to Kutztown (808-801). The Penguins also drooped an 896-817 match to #16 LIU Brooklyn.

Youngstown State will enter Saturday's traditional team games sitting 12th in total pinfall. YSU will bowl a positional round match to start the day, and it will follow with matches against St. Francis Brooklyn, Fairleigh Dickinson, LIU Post and Franklin Pierce.
