Penguins Jump Three Spots on Saturday at Hawk Flight Invite

The Youngstown State bowling team posted a winning record and climbed three spots in the team standings during Saturday's traditional matches at the Hawk Flight Invite at King Pin Lanes.

The Penguins averaged 875.4 in their five matches and topped 910 twice. YSU began the day with an 883-746 win over Roberts Wesleyan, and the Penguins ended the round with a 952-837 victory over LIU Post and a 914-887 win over Franklin Pierce. YSU lost 883-832 to St. Francis Brooklyn and 933-796 to No. 10 Fairleigh Dickinson.

Emily Dietz was the Penguins' top individual finisher with 898 pins, which was good for 20th place. Emma Dockery was one spot back with an 888, and Nikki Mendez was 29th with an 842 as the only other Penguin to bowl five games. Mackenzie Olesky had the top individual score with a 246 in the match against LIU Post.

YSU will enter Sunday's three bracket matches in ninth place, and action will begin at 8:30 a.m.
