Dietz is Top YSU Finisher on Second Day at Kutztown

Sophomore Emily Dietz bowled a pair of games above 210 to lead the Youngstown State bowling team in five traditional matches on Saturday at the KU Invitational. The event is being held at Heister Lanes in Reading, Pa., and is hosted by Kutztown.

Dietz was the Penguins' top individual finisher during the day, finishing 44th in a talented field with a five-game total of 986. She bowled a career-high 227 against No. 6 Delaware State in YSU's final competition of the day, and she added a 212 against Adelphi earlier.

Dietz and the Penguins finished the first two days of the KU Invitational with 9,301 pins, which seeds them 19th for Sunday's bracket play.

YSU went winless in its five matches on Saturday, falling 1,040-956 to No. 16 Saint Francis U, 973-942 to Adelphi, 982-867 to Howard, 967-855 against No. 14 LIU Brooklyn and 978-949 to No. 6 Delaware State.

Behind Dietz, Ashley Kolb placed 84th individually with a four-game total of 896. Emma Dockery was the only other Penguin to bowl in all five matches, and she totaled 878.

Youngstown State will begin Sunday's bracket play against No. 24 Monmouth at 8:25 a.m.
