The Youngstown State bowling team beat another top-10 opponent and earned a pair of wins in bracket play on Sunday at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic. The tournament was YSU's final competition of the season, and it was hosted by Vanderbilt at the Smyrna Bowling Center.
The Penguins began the day in 19th place in the competitive 32-team field, and that's where they finished after going 2-1 on Sunday. After beating No. 7 Delaware State on Saturday, YSU began bracket play with a 4-1 victory over No. 8 UMES. The Penguins edged the Hawks 179-178 in the first game, and YSU had a high score of 212 in the fourth.
Youngstown State then lost 4.5-2.5 to Jackson State, and it finished the season with a 4-0 win over Prairie View A&M. Each of those games was decided by at least 27 pins.
McKendree went 3-0 in bracket matches on Sunday to win the tournament, and Sam Houston State finished second.
