Penguins Begin Play at Hawk Classic Invitational

The Youngstown State bowling team had a rough day on the lanes Friday in day one at the Hawk Classic Invitational at Millsboro Lanes in Millsboro, De.

The Penguins went 0-5 in their five head-to-head matches and finished at the bottom of the tournament standings in total pinfall as they struggled to master the pattern. Youngstown State posted 4,235 pins over their five Baker matches for an average game of 169.4.

YSU lost its opening match 961-860 to No. 11 North Carolina A&T, and a 958-798 loss to No. 23 Monmouth followed. The Penguins' closest match of the day then came in an 818-795 setback to Coppin State. YSU had its highest total of the afternoon with a 945, but it unfortunately came when NO. 12 Sacred Heart posted a 1,078. No. 14 Lincoln Memorial won the final match 970-837.

Youngstown State will compete in five traditional matches on Saturday at the Hawk Classic Invitational. The first match against No. 8 Delaware State will begin at 9:55 a.m.
