Bowling Finishes Track Kat Klash in 11th Place

The Youngstown State bowling team finished a strong weekend at the Track Kat Klash by earning one win in bracket play on Sunday. The tournament was held at Emerald Lanes in Houston.

The Penguins entered the day in 10th place, and they finished the tournament in 11th after going 1-2 in the best-of-seven Baker format on Sunday.

YSU lost a seven-game battle with No. 17 Louisiana Tech in the opening round of the day with game seven being decided by 16 pins. The Penguins totaled a 221 in game six, which tied for their second-highest single-game total of the day.

The second match was against No. 23 Monmouth, and YSU won the first game before dropping the next three to fall behind 3-1. The Penguins extended the match with a 166-144 win in game five before falling 168-152 in the sixth.

In the match to decide 11th and 12th, YSU rallied from a 2-1 deficit to beat Maryville in seven games. The Penguins posted a 236 in the first game, but Maryville took the next two. YSU finished the tournament with three straight 200 games, winning 200-193 in the fourth game, 221-178 in the fifth and 209-157 in the sixth.

Youngstown State will compete at the Warhawk Classic at AMF West Lanes in Milwaukee next weekend.
