Penguins Break One More Record on Final Day at Warhawk Classic

The Youngstown State bowling team had another day of high scores but dropped each of its three bracket matches to finish play at the Warhawk Classic, which was hosted at AMF West Lanes in Milwaukee.

The Penguins surpassed 200 in 13 of their 19 Baker games to finish up a high-scoring weekend. YSU topped out at 256, which broke the previous school record for highest Baker game, and it also had scores of 247 and 236. The 256 was the fifth school record that fell this weekend for Youngstown State.

YSU fell behind 3-0 in each of their first two bracket matches and twice rallied to force a seventh game. The Penguins lost 195-194 in the decisive seventh game against No. 9 Fairleigh Dickinson when the Knights' anchor rolled two strikes and nine count in the 10th frame. Youngstown State then lost in seven games to Valparaiso with the margin in game three being six pins and the margin in game seven being 12. The Penguins lost in five games to No. 18 Central Missouri to fall back to 14th place in the 18-team tournament.

Youngstown State will finish its fall schedule next weekend at the Hawk Classic Invitational in Millsboro, Del.
