The Youngstown State bowling program has signed a sponsorship agreement with Ebonite International, giving the Penguins access to the bowling balls and equipment under the Columbia 300, Ebonite, Hammer and Track brands. YSU will represent Columbia 300 as part of the agreement.
“Ebonite International continues to invest heavily in both the present and the future of our sport through many exciting avenues at the youth, collegiate, amateur, and professional ranks," YSU head coach Doug Kuberski said. “They also have a deep catalog of equipment that’ll empower us in many ways as we navigate the challenges of an NCAA season. We really appreciate the opportunity to partner with the best brands in bowling and cannot wait for the start of the 2019-20 season.”
Based out of Hopkinsville, Ky., Ebonite International has a consumer brand portfolio consisting of Columbia 300, Ebonite, Hammer, Powerhouse, Robby’s and Track. The first Ebonite bowling ball was created in 1905, and Ebonite created the first urethane bowling balls in 1980. Hammer was added to the brand portfolio in 2002, and Columbia 300 and Track were added in 2007.
Youngstown State ended the 2018-19 season ranked 24th in the final NTCA Top 25 poll, and it took a tremendous leap forward in the spring semester. The Penguins defeated eight teams ranked in the top 10 of the NTCA poll, including a victory over No. 1 McKendree on March 15 at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic. With the top three bowlers from 2018-19 returning and a talented group of newcomers joining the squad, the Penguins have high optimism for 2019-20.
