Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla. - The Youngstown State women's golf team continued play at the Horizon League Championships on Monday morning at the Las Colinas Golf Course.
The Penguins had a second-round score of 343 on Monday. After two days of action, the Guins are in eighth place with a 678. Leading the tournament is IUPUI with a 619. YSU sits 11 shots behind Green Bay for seventh place. The Penguins and Phoenix will be paired together for tomorrow's final round.
Megan Creager carded the best score for the Penguins with an 84. Creager's second round featured a pair of birdies and after two rounds she has a 176. Her second round was an eight-shot improvement following her first-day score.
The top golfer on the leaderboard for the Guins is sophomore Katlyn Shutt. Shutt, who was tied for the lead following the first round, fired an 87 on Monday and has two-round total of 163. She currently sits in 14th place. On Monday, she had seven pars and birdies at No. 9 and No. 10.
Tori Utrup had YSU's second-best score in the second round with an 85. She had birdies at No. 12 and No. 13 on Monday and was just three-over on the back nine. For the tournament she has a two-round score of 169 and is tied for 23rd.
Senior Courtney Shutt and freshman Kara Raines are tied for 34th place with 175. Shutt shot an 87 for her second round which was highlighted by birdies at No. 12 and No. 13. Raines carded an 88 on Monday following an opening round 87.
YSU's third round will start at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
