Creager Leads Penguins at Penn State Nittany Lion Invitational

State College, Pa. - The Youngstown State women's golf team finished 14th at the Penn State Nittany Lion Invitational over the weekend. 

The Penguins shot 319 and 321 respectively in rounds one and two on Saturday before carding a 322 in the third round on Sunday. This was the team's first 54-hole event of the season.

Megan Creager led the way with a three-round total score of 233. The junior turned in a pair of 77's on Saturday and a 79 on Sunday. She had YSU's lowest score in all three rounds. 

Senior Courtney Shutt finished with a three-round total of 240 (79-81-80). Freshman Haylee McGovern carded a 242 with rounds of 78, 80 and 84 respectively. 

Freshman Kara Raines turned in a 248 (85-84-79) and freshman Tori Utrup posted a 253 (86-83-84). McGovern, Raines and Utrup were all competing in just the second event of their collegiate careers. 

Maryland swept the event by winning both the team and individual titles. Laura Van Respaille shot 212 to finish four under par and win by two strokes while the Terrapins shot 863 (-1) as a team to secure a three-stroke victory over Penn State.

The Penguins will return to action Oct. 2 and 3 for the Butler Fall Invitational at Highland Country Club in Indianapolis, Ind.
