Penguins in Sixth Place After Round One of Roseann Schwartz Invitational

Boardman, Ohio - The Youngstown State women's golf team sits in sixth place out of 10 teams after one round of the Roseann Schwartz Invitational. The Penguins played 18 holes earlier today in beautiful weather on Mill Creek Park's North Course and will return to play the final 18 tomorrow morning.

YSU finished with a team total of 328 on the par-72 course. Marshall grabbed the first round lead with a 310 while Cleveland State is in second with a 313 and Akron is third with a 315. Defending champion Indiana State is in fourth place followed by Dayton and the Penguins.

Haylee McGovern, one of three freshman in the YSU lineup, led the way with a first-round score of 78 in her very first collegiate action. McGovern is tied for eighth place and is six shots behind the leader, Cleveland State's Madison Butler.

Junior Megan Creager was YSU's second-best finisher with a first-round 79 to finish seven over par and is in 11th place. The team's lone senior, Courtney Shutt, finished with an 85 while freshmen Tori Utrup and Kara Raines shot 86 and 88 respectively. 

Tee times for Tuesday's final round are scheduled between 8 and 9:30 a.m. and admission for fans is free.

Creager: 8:27 a.m.
McGovern: 8:36 a.m.
