Women's Golf Adds Three Student-Athletes During Early Signing Period

Youngstown State Head Women's Golf Coach Nate Miklos has announced the signing of three student-athletes who will join the YSU program in the fall of 2019. Christina Lewis (Wexford, Pa.), Danae Rugola (Uniontown, Pa.) and Allison St. Clair (West Salem, Ohio) have each signed a National Letter of Intent to continue their academic and athletic futures at Youngstown State University.

Christina Lewis posted a nine-hole scoring average of 37.6 this past year for North Allegheny Senior High School in the Pittsburgh area. She shot a season-best 73 to finish as runner-up at sectionals. Lewis advanced to the state championships as a sophomore and finished 14th. She helped lead her team to 2015, 2017 and 2018 Pennsylvania AAA State Championships. She was named an Esmark All-American in 2017 for her outstanding achievements in athletics, academics and community service combined with her character and perseverance.

Danae Rugola of Uniontown Area High School in Uniontown, Pa., shot a two-round 154 (76-78) to finish tied for second at the 2018 Pennsylvania AAA State Championship. She finished 10th at the AAA State Championship as a junior and sixth as a sophomore. Rugola posted a nine-hole average of 35.4, which tied Uniontown Area's school record, and tied her high school's home course record with a 31. She earned medalist honors at the WPIAL Sectional Qualifier with a 75 and finished third at the WPIAL Championships with a 77. Rugola also placed third at the PIAA Western Regional with a 78 while carding a low round of 70 on the season.

Allison St. Clair of Northwestern High School in West Salem, Ohio, shot a two-round 152 (76-76) and tied for eighth at the Ohio Division II State Tournament as a junior. She shot a career-low 74 at sectionals this past year to earn medalist honors and help lead her team to the sectional championship. St. Clair posted a scoring average of 42.7 playing on the boys' team and from their yardages. She was named Second-Team All-Wayne County Athletic League (boys season) while also earning first-team honors from the Northeast Ohio Golf Coaches Association and all-state academic honors. She is a three-sport athlete who also plays softball and basketball.
