Women's Golf Begins Spring Season Monday at Motor City Cup

The Youngstown State women's golf team will begin the spring portion of its 2018-19 season on Monday with the Motor City Cup hosted by Oakland at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla.

The event will feature tournament match play in a bracket-style format with the winning team in each head-to-head match advancing. The tournament will feature seven other schools including Creighton, IUPUI, Loyola-Chicago, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, UIC and Valparaiso.

The teams are seeded as listed below based on current GolfStat rankings.

YSU will face Horizon League foe UIC in the first round of play. The winner between the Penguins and Flames will advance into the championship bracket to play the winner of IUPUI and Northern Kentucky in the semifinals. The loser will move into the consolation bracket to face the loser of the Jaguars and Norse.

Head Coach Nate Miklos has announced that YSU's lineup will include Katlyn Shutt, Victoria Grans, Puthita Khuanrudee, Rattika Sittigool, Jenna Vivo and Megan Creager. Shutt, Grans, Khuanrudee and Creager participated in each of the team's five events this past fall. Sittigool and Vivo will each be competing in their fifth event of the season.

The first round of play will begin on Monday with tee times scheduled from 8:09-9:37 a.m. The second round is set to begin Monday afternoon with tee times from 12:33-2:01 p.m. Tee times for the third and final round are set for 8:09-9:37 a.m. on Tuesday.

The event will be played on the Las Colinas Course at Mission Inn, the same location where the Horizon League Championships will be held in April. The course will play approximately 6,171 yards and par is 73. Live scoring will be available via GolfStat.com and the GolfStat app.
