Penguins Finish Sixth in 2019 Fall Preview at Silver Lake

Silver Lake, Ohio - The Youngstown State women's golf team finished sixth on Tuesday in the 2019 Fall Preview at Silver Lake from Silver Lake Country Club. Sophomores Victoria Grans and Puthita Khuanrudee each tied for 17th with a three-round score of 239.

The Penguins, who were the only participating team not from the Mid-American Conference, recorded a three-round team total of 975. YSU posted rounds of 322 and 332 in the first two rounds on Monday before concluding the event with a 321 on Tuesday.

Grans carded rounds of 79, 83 and 77 to collect her second top-20 placing of the campaign. Her final-round 77 was YSU's lowest individual single-round score of the event. The sophomore used her solid final round to climb an impressive 13 spots on the leaderboard; she was tied for 30th at the end of the second round on Monday.

Khuanrudee turned in rounds of 80, 80 and 79 on the par-72 course to earn her fourth top-20 finish in as many tournaments this fall. The sophomore moved up five spots on Tuesday after being tied for 22nd after the first two rounds of play. She finished outside the top 15 of the individual standings for the first time this season.

Danae Rugola tied for 37th with a three-round mark of 249 (81-83-85) while Christina Lewis tied for 47th with a 253 (82-91-80). Tori Utrup finished with a three-round 254 (82-86-86) to tie for 49th. Playing as an individual, Kara Raines placed 57th with a three-round total of 261 (85-85-91).

Eastern Michigan won the tournament title with a three-round team score of 942 that featured rounds of 316, 314 and 312. The host Akron finished as the runner up with a 947 while Ball State placed third with a 949. Youngstown State finished in front of Central Michigan, Bowling Green and Ohio.

Playing as an individual, Sitanun Jonglikit of Kent State won medalist honors at six over par with a three-round 222 (75-73-74). She finished six strokes ahead of Eastern Michigan's Natai Green Apichonlati.

Youngstown State will close out its fall season next week with the Dayton Fall Invitational on Oct. 14-15 at NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio.
