Women's Soccer Falls at Akron, 6-0

Akron, Ohio - The Youngstown State women's soccer lost to Akron, 6-0, on Sunday afternoon from at Cub Cadet Field.

The Penguins fall to 1-3-2 while the Zips improve to 2-2-1.

Akron got the scoring started in the first half when Rachel Baughman scored in the 16th minute to give the Zips a 1-0 lead.

The Zips scored five goals in the second half including three off the foot of Sydney Worthy to secure a 5-0 victory. Akron outshot the Penguins 20-4 and had seven shots on goal to YSU's none.

Junior Jessie Gamez led the Peguins with two shots and goalkeeper Kate McEachern made five saves.

The Penguins are back on the road on Friday, Sept. 7, when they travel to Purdue Fort Wayne to take on the Mastodons at 7 p.m. YSU will return home on Sunday, Sept. 9, to take on Robert Morris at 1 p.m.
