Women's Soccer Falls to Cleveland State, 2-0

]The Youngstown State women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Cleveland State on Wednesday evening from Farmers National Bank Field in the Covelli Sports Complex. Sophomore goalkeeper Kate McEachern made 10 saves for the game including seven during the first half.

The Penguins fall to 1-8-2 and 0-3 in the Horizon League while the Vikings improve to 6-4-1 and 2-0-1 in the Horizon League. 

Cleveland State got on the board in the first half when a YSU player deflected a ball into the back of the net to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead.

Shortly after the second half started, Cleveland State increased their lead to 2-0 when Dani Sowinski converted a penalty kick in the 49th minute. Samantha Mazula provided a goal scoring opportunity for the Penguins late in the second half but the Cleveland State goalkeeper made a diving save to keep it out of the back of the net. 

Cleveland State outshot YSU 22-5 and had more corner kick opportunities, 3-0.

Mazula led YSU in shots with three while Lauren Snow and Sammy Salatino each recorded a shot. 

The Penguins hit the road on Saturday, Sept. 29 when they travel to IUPUI to take on the Jaguars at 1 p.m. from Michael A. Carroll Stadium.
