Women's Soccer Falls at IUPUI, 2-0

Indianapolis, Ind. - The Youngstown State women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to IUPUI on Saturday afternoon from Michael A. Carroll Stadium. 

The Penguins fall to 1-10-2 and 0-4 in the Horizon League while the Jaguars improve to 4-6-3 and 2-1-1 in league play.

After a scoreless first half, IUPUI got the scoring started when Valentine Pursey scored in the 60th minute to give the Jaguars a 1-0 lead. Denise Veldman added to the IUPUI lead in the 72nd minute when she scored on a cross from Bri Denny to give the Jaguars a 2-0 lead.

IUPUI outshot YSU 18-7 but the Penguins had more corner kick opportunities, 5-3.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kate McEachern recorded seven saves, while four different Penguins registered a shot for the game. Katie Hackos and Sammy Salatino each had two shots on the afternoon.

The Penguins return home for a matchup with Oakland on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. from Farmers National Bank Field in the Covelli Sports Complex.
