The Youngstown State women's soccer program has added transfer Bethany Rasile from the University of Pittsburgh, Head Coach Brian Shrum announced on Friday. Rasile will enroll at YSU in January and will have three years of eligibility beginning with the 2019 season.

"Bethany is a tremendous addition to our program," Shrum said. "She will help to fill the defensive gaps that have been created with the graduation of some key senior defenders.

"Her ability with the ball will help us continue to expand our game model to build from the back when needed. She is also a very cerebral defender and knows when and where to challenge attackers to win back possession."

As a freshman with the Panthers, Rasile played in nine games while making two starts at the defender position. She tallied 285 minutes total minutes and recorded one shot on goal against TCU.

Rasile, who was a four-year letter winner and captain at Niles McKinley High School in Niles, Ohio, was a three-time all district selection and a second-team all-state selection her senior season. That year, Rasile set the single-game record for most goals with seven and was the recipient of AAC Player-of-the-Year Award.
