Penguins Visit St. Bonaventure, Akron This Weekend

The Youngstown State women's soccer team (1-2-1) heads to St. Bonaventure on Friday, Aug. 31, to take on the Bonnies at 7 p.m. The Penguins will travel back to Ohio on Sunday, Sept. 2, to take on Akron at 1 p.m.

Last Time Out
Youngstown State captured their first win of the season on Sunday, Aug. 26 in a 1-0 against Canisius.

About St. Bonaventure
The Bonnies enter the matchup with an 0-2-1 record which includes a 2-1 loss to Cornell in their last time out. Sydney Cerza leads the team in points with two goals and one assist. 

The St. Bonaventure Series
This is the sixth meeting between Youngstown State and St. Bonaventure in a series that dates back to 1996. The Bonnies own a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series but the Penguins won last season's matchup 1-0. 

About Akron
The Zips enter the weekend with a 1-2 record after picking up their first win of the season last weekend in a 3-0 victory against Wofford. Akron is lead by three players, who each have one goal apiece. 

The Akron Series
This is the seventh meeting between Youngstown State and Akron in a series that dates back to 2001. The Zips own a 5-0-1 advantage in the all-time series with their last win coming in 2014 against the Penguins. 

Hughes Moving Up the Record Books
Senior defender Madison Hughes has been a staple on the back line since her freshman season. Hughes has started in 56 career games and is currently 8 starts away from entering the Top 10 in matches started all-time at Youngstown State.

McEachern Starts in Net
Sophomore goalkeeper Kate McEachern notched her third career shutout and first with YSU in a 1-0 win over Canisius this past weekend. Through three starts, McEachern has recorded six saves and a 1.24 goals-against average in 290 minutes in net.
