Penguins Visit Purdue Fort Wayne, Host Robert Morris This Weekend

The Youngstown State women's soccer team travels to Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday, Sept. 7, to take on the Mastodons at 7 p.m. from the Hefner Soccer Complex. The Penguins return home for Senior Day on Sunday, Sept. 9, when they host Robert Morris at 1 p.m. from the Covelli Sports Complex.

Last Time Out
YSU played to a 0-0 tie with St. Bonaventure on Friday, August 31, but lost to Akron by a score of 6-0 on Sunday, Sept. 2. 

Gameday Promotions
Sunday's matchup against Robert Morris will feature a variety of promotions that include Senior Day, Chick-Fil-A sandwich giveaway, High School Soccer Day, YSU Student-Athlete Appreciation Day.

About Purdue Fort Wayne
The Mastodons enter the contest with a 1-4-1 record which includes a loss to Tennessee Tech their last time out. Purdue Fort Wayne has four players who each recorded one goal while Hannah Croger leads them in assists with two. 

The Purdue Fort Wayne Series
This is the second meeting between YSU and Purdue Fort Wayne in a series that dates back to last season. YSU owns a 1-0 record against the Mastodons after defeating them by a score of 1-0 last year.  

About Robert Morris
The Colonials enter the weekend with a record of 1-5 but will play Howard on Friday, Sept. 7 before their matchup with YSU. Jane Schleicher has scored all five goals for Robert Morris this season while three players have each registered one assist.

The Robert Morris Series
This is the twenty-second meeting between YSU and Robert Morris in a series that dates back to 1996. The Colonials own a 12-8-1 record in the all-time series but the Penguins defeated Robert Morris 1-0 the last time the teams played in 2016.

Hughes Moving Up the Record Books
Senior defender Madison Hughes has been a staple on the back line since her freshman season. Hughes has started in 58 career games and is currently 6 starts away from entering the Top 10 in matches started all-time at Youngstown State.

The 2018 Seniors
This year's senior class features Katie Hackos, Madison Hughes and Shani Jefferson. The trio is very experienced having played in a combined 133 games before the season started. During their careers, Hackos has played in 42 games while registering two goals and three assists, Hughes has played in 52 games and recorded one goal. Since transferring in after her freshman season, Jeffereson has played in 34 career games on defense.

The Penguins stay home for their matchup with Milwaukee on Friday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. before traveling to Bowling Green to take on the Falcons on Sunday, Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. from Cochrane Soccer Stadium.
