Women's Soccer Continues Horizon League Play Against Cleveland State, at IUPUI

The Youngstown State women's soccer team will host Cleveland State on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. from Farmers National Bank Field in the Covelli Sports Complex. The Penguins will travel to IUPUI on Saturday, Sept. 29 to take on the Jaguars at 1 p.m. from Michael A. Carroll Stadium. 

Last Time Out
The Penguins fell to Northern Kentucky, 2-0, on Saturday, Sept. 22 from the NKU Soccer Stadium.  

Gameday Promotions
Wednesday's matchup with Cleveland State will feature a YSU Women's Soccer T-Shirt Giveaway, AVI Concession Dollar Dog Night and Faculty Appreciation Night.

About Cleveland State
Cleveland State enters the matchup with a 5-4-1 record and a 1-0-1 mark in the Horizon League. The Vikings are lead by senior forward Sarah Krouse who has registered three goals and four assists so far this season. Senior midfielder McKenna Vento is the leading goal scorer with four goals through 10 games. Sophomore goalkeeper Stevie Holbrook has started all 10 games for Cleveland State recording a 1.08 goals against average and 39 saves. 

The Cleveland State Series
This is the 16th meeting between Cleveland State and YSU in a series that dates back to 2004. The Vikings hold a 9-5-1 record in the all-time series with their most recent win coming last season against the Penguins. YSU's last win came in 2014 when they defeated Cleveland State 2-1.

About IUPUI
IUPUI enters the matchup with a 2-6-3 record and an 0-1-1 mark in the Horizon League. Before their matchup with YSU, IUPUI will travel to Chicago, Ill. on Sept. 26 to take on UIC. The Jaguars are lead by sophomore forward Miranda Ricks who has a team-high two goals and four assists. Junior goalkeeper Sophia Lipka has made 11 starts in net registering a 1.43 goals against average and 53 saves. 

The IUPUI Series
This is the seventh meeting been IUPUI and YSU in a series that dates back to 1999. The Jaguars hold a 6-0 record in the all-time series after defeating the Penguins 2-0 last season. 

Hughes Moving Up the Record Books
Senior defender Madison Hughes has been a staple on the back line since her freshman season. Hughes has started in 63 career games and is currently 1 start away from entering the Top 10 in matches started all-time at Youngstown State.
