The Youngstown State swimming and diving team finished up their home season on Saturday with a dual meet against Akron and Saint Frances (Pa.) at Beeghly Natatorium, 104-199 and 137-157, respectively.
Highlighting the afternoon was sophomore Samantha Roberts who came on top in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:27.83.
Nishani Cicilson finished in second place in all four of the events that she competed in that day. She started off with the 100-yard backstroke finishing with a time of 1:01.98. In her last two individual events, the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, her times were 25.24 seconds and 54.39 seconds, respectively, coming in second place by less than a second each time. In her final event, the 400-yard freestyle, the team consisted of Kirsten Walker, junior, Audy Grubbs, Junior, Kane, and Cicilson. They finished in 3:41.76.
In the 200-yard medley relay, Youngstown State's A squad finished third (1:54.09). Angela Diorio, freshman, Sam Roberts, sophomore, Laura Paz, freshman and Kane were the on this team. Freshman Megan Ciampa finished in second place in the 1,000-yard freestyle clocked at 10:49.06. Walker came in fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.79. Roberts was one second slow in the 100-yard breaststroke, coming in second place (1:08.80).
Cook came in second place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:12.18. Walker finished .61 seconds behind Cicilson in the 100-yard freestyle finishing in third (55.00).
The Penguins return to action next Saturday when they travel to Cleveland State. YSU will also take on Wright State in the Triangular.
