Swimming & Diving Hosts Red-White and Alumni Meets

The Youngstown State women's swimming and diving program will be in action on Friday and Saturday at the Beeghly Center Natatorium. The annual Red-White Meet is Friday at 5 p.m. while the Alumni Meet is Saturday at noon. Both events are free.

The Penguins have 25 members on the current squad. Leading the way are returning record holders Nishani Cicilson, Samantha Roberts, Ashley Williamson and Caitlin Cook. Cicilson is the school-record holder in the 50-yard freestyle, Cook established a school mark in the 200-yard butterfly in 2009, Williamson set marks in the 100 fly, 100 and 200 backs in 2009 as well while Roberts set new standards in the 100 and 200 breast last year.

Cicilson and Roberts each finished fifth at the Horizon League Championships in February.

This year's squad will be high on newcomers with 10 additions to the squad (all freshmen).

Leading the divers is sophomore Casey Hill. Hill is coming off fourth-place finishes at the HL Championships in both the one and three-meter event.

YSU officially opens the season on Friday, Oct. 15, when it competes at the Tom Stubbs Relays, hosted by Bowling Green. The Penguins' first home meet of the season is Saturday, Oct. 16 at Noon against Butler.
