The YSU women's swimming and diving team kicked off their season with the annual Red vs. White Meet at the Beeghly Natatorium on Friday. The Red team edge out White with a final team score of 120-114.
Freshman Megan Ciampa won both freestyle distance events, junior Kirstin Walker won the 100 and 200 yard freestyles and sophomore Sam Roberts won the 200-yard IM and the 200-yard breaststroke.
Ciampa won both distance freestyle events for the Red team with a time of 11:07.32 (1,000) and 5:30.86 (500).
In the 50 freestyle, Cicilson set a meet record of 25.17 while taking first. Walker won the 100 and 200 free events. She had a time of 55.85 seconds in the 100 free and 2:02.54 in the 200 free both swimming for White.
For the Red team in the 200 Fly, senior Caitlin Cook finished first with a time of 2:16.39. Roberts won the 200-yard IM (2:19.35) and the 200-yard breastroke setting a new meet record of 2:31.11. Freshman Laura Paz won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:20.05.
The meet concluded with the White team winning the 400-yard freestyle eelay with Cicilson, Alana Kane, Diorio and Walker finishing with a time of 3:51.13.
