Penguins Face Another Strong Challenge With Dual Against Duquesne

The Youngstown State swimming and diving team will face another strong early season challenge playing host to Duquesne on Saturday afternoon at the Beeghly Center Natatorium. The dual meet is set to begin at noon.

The Penguins are coming off an impressive showing a dual victory over Niagara. YSU has faced a tough early season schedule playing host to three-time defending Horizon League Champion Oakland and Ohio. The Guins also own a victory over St. Bonaventure. Duquesne placed second in the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship last year.

Against Niagara, the Penguins won all 12 individual swimming events, both diving and both relays.

Viktoria Orosz won three events against the Purple Eagles while Zsani Csado and Madison Aranda each won a pair of swimming events. Last year, Aranda won the 500-yard freestyle against the Dukes in Pittsburgh.

The YSU divers have had a great start to the season already qualifying four for the NCAA Zone C Diving Meet. Bec Stafford has led the way winning all seven of her competitions to start the season. McKenzie Stelter won the one-meter dive at the Clarion Diving Invitational last Sunday. Stelter was second in the one-meter to Stafford against Niagara while Bethany Glick was second in the three-meter dive.

This is the fourth straight year the Penguins and Dukes dueled in the pool and is the fifth time in the last six years they have competed against one another.
