Penguins Have Strong Performance In Three-Meter Dive at HL Championships

Chicago, Ill. - The Youngstown State swimming and diving team opened day one of the Horizon League Championships with two solid relays and strong performance in the three-meter dive at the UIC Natatorium.

In the team standings through three events the Penguins are second with 101 points. Milwaukee leads with 103 while Green Bay sits third with 81 points.

In the 200-yard medley relay the Penguins posted a time of 1:44.91 behind a strong performance by Viktoria Orosz, Hannah Reynolds, Zsani Csado and Haley Fisher

In the three-meter dive, McKenzie Stelter was fourth with a score of 247.30 points while Bethany Glick placed fifth with a 231.40. Senior Megan Siford placed eighth with a score of 225.55 points. Bec Stafford had an impressive score of 280.50 in the B Final and placed 10th. YSU scored 51 points in the event. 

To cap off the evening, Madison Aranda, Orosz, Csado and Fisher finished sixth in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:32.41.

The Horizon League Championships continue on Thursday with the 500-yard freestyle, 200 IM, 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle relay. The preliminary session begins at 11 a.m. with the finals set for 6:30 p.m.
