Chicago, Ill. - Youngstown State junior swimmer Viktoria Orosz posted a seventh-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle to lead the Penguins on the second day of action at the Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships at the UIC Natatorium.
Orosz posted a time of a 5:04.37 in a record-setting final that saw the top five all finish under five minutes. Madison Aranda posted a time of 5:02.58 in the B final to place 12th. All swimmers in the B final swam under a 5:50.32.
In the final event of the night, YSU was a time of 1:36.72 to finish seventh in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Swimming in the event for the Penguins was Kolbrun Jonsdottir, Haley Fisher, Csado and Hannah Reynolds.
In the team standings, YSU is in fifth place with 148 points while Oakland sits first with 271.5 points. The Penguins are ahead of Cleveland State, Wright State and Valparaiso in the team race.
The championships continue on Friday with the 400-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle
100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke and the 400-yard medley relay. Prelims are set for 11:30 a.m. Eastern time with the finals on tap for 6:30 p.m.
