Penguins Open Campaign at Tom Stubbs Relays

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Youngstown State swimming and diving team opened its 2016-17 season on Friday at the Tom Stubbs Relays at the Cooper Pool.

The Penguins competed against an impressive field which included Horizon League Champion Oakland, MAC Champion Akron, Bowling Green and Toledo at the Stubbs Relays.

YSU had its strongest showing of the meet in the freestyle relays. The Penguins placed fifth in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:38.16 and were also fifth in the 3x500-yard freestyle relay with a time of 16:03.08. 

The Guins were sixth in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:57.28. YSU was also seventh in the 3x100-backstroke relay clocking a time of 3:02.08 and in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:41.10.

YSU will play host to its annual Alumni Meet at the Beeghly Natatorium tomorrow at 11 a.m. The Penguins' first dual of the season is at St. Bonaventure on Saturday, Oct. 8.
