Penguins Open HL Championships With Strong Relay Efforts

Indianapolis, Ind. - The Youngstown State swimming and diving team opened up action at the Horizon League Championships with a pair of strong relay swims at the IUPUI Natatorium on Wednesday.

YSU opened the championships with a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The group of Jamie Leming, Tiphaine Saint-Gilles, Rachel Shipp and Casey Prentice swam a time of 1:45.63 to finish in front of UIC.

To wrap up the evening, YSU had the fifth-fastest 800-yard freestyle relay time in school history clocking a time of 7:38.40. In the 800 free, YSU swam Zsani Csado, Taylor Bishop, Taci Miller while Paris Krug was the anchor. 

The Horizon League Championships continue on Thursday morning with preliminaries in the one-meter dive, the 500-yard Freestyle, the 200-yard IM and the 50-yard Freestyle.

After the two swims, YSU is tied with UIC for sixth place with 50 points. Thursday's finals, which will include the 200-yard freestyle relay, are set for a 5:30 p.m. start.
