Indianapolis, Ind. - Aida Jurinovics led the Youngstown State swimming and diving team in the evening session with a seventh-place finish in the 400 IM while Casey Prentice posted a school-record time in the 100-yard butterfly on the third day of the Horizon League Championships at the IUPUI Natatorium.
Jurinovics clocked a time of 4:30.57 to finish seventh in the 400 IM. In the prelims, she swam a time of 4:30.34. Other finishers in the 400 IM were Josie Preski(4:40.15) who was 17th, Rhianna Acosta(4:44.22) who was 18th, Taylor Tofil(4:48.49) and Averi McCarthy(4:51.80).
In the prelims of the 100-yard butterfly, Prentice set the school mark at 56.62 seconds before having an even performance in the conoslation final with a swim of 56.18 seconds. She finished 12th in the event. The previous record of 56.64 seconds was held by Jana Janson since 2014. Rachel Shipp was 16th with a time of 57.82 seconds.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Jamie Leming was 19th with a time of 58.23 seconds, Hannah Olger clocked a time of 58.60 seconds, Allyson Wilson swam a time of 59.00 seconds and Averi McCarthy had a 1:01.76.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Zsani Csado was 15th with a time of 1:53.47. Other finishers in the 200-yard freestyle were Taci Miller (1:54.32), Taylor Bishop (1:56.25), Paris Krug (1:56.29) and Elizabeth Wompey (1:58.60).
In the final event of the night, YSU finished with a time of 3:52.28 in the 400-yard medley relay.
After three days of competition, the Penguins are in seventh place with 150 points.
The final day of the Horizon League Championships is set for Saturday. Events on tap for tomorrow are the 1,650-yard freestyle, the 200-yard backstroke, the 100-yard freestyle, the 200-yard breaststroke, the 200-yard butterfly, the three-meter dive and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
