Penguins Cap Off Home Dual Season Against Illinois

The Youngstown State swimming and diving team closed out its home dual season against Illinois on Saturday morning at the Beeghly Natatorium. Tiphaine Saint-Gilles, Aida Jurinovics, Hannah Olger and Zsani Csado all earned event victories for the Penguins.

Prior to the meet, the Penguins recognized their four seniors - Rachel Shipp, Csado, Taylor Tofil and Haley Fisher. During the meet, the program recognized the McAtee Family for their Scholarship Endowment and long-time support of YSU Athletics.

Saint-Gilles capped off a strong two-day effort with a winning time of 2:25.89 in the 200-yard breaststroke. Jurinovics placed first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:37.50. Olger won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.67 seconds. Csado, in her final race at the Beeghly Natatorium, won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:10.83.

YSU went second and third in the 100-yard butterfly as Casey Prentice swam a time of 1:00.16 and Olger was third at 1:03.24. Jurinovics took second in the 200-yard breast with a time of 2:27.81. 

Averi McCarthy was second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:11.48. In the 100-yard backstroke Josie Preski was second with a time of 1:01.08.

YSU is next in action next Saturday when it visits Ohio. The dual meet is set for an 11:30 a.m. start.
