Jurinovics, Weiskopf Win Events In Dual Against Oakland

Youngstown State sophomore Aida Jurinovics picked up a pair of wins while Tess Weiskopf took first in the one-meter dive against Oakland on Friday at the Beeghly Natatorium.

Jurinovics won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:45.39 to win the event by more than nine seconds. Later in the meet, she won the 400 IM with a time of 4:34.44. Weiskopf won the one-meter dive with a score of 232.57 points.

Zsani Csado placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.57 while Sydney Gonzalez was third at 1:58.16. In the 100-yard backstroke, Jamie Leming was second with a time of 1:00.10 while Hannah Olger took third clocking a 1:00.58. In the 500-yard freestyle, Taci Miller was second with a time of 5:20.19 while Csado was third with a 5:21.60.

Other third-place finishers for the Penguins were Elizabeth Wompey in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:59.15), Mallory Pitstick in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.49) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:28.75), Taylor Tofil in 200-yard butterfly (2:17.35), Casey Prentice in the 50-yard freestyle (25.02 seconds), Josie Preski in the 200-yard backstroke (2:11.36), Rachel Shipp in the 100-yard butterfly (59.99 seconds) and Gonzalez in the 400 IM (4:42.37).

Oakland won the dual by a score of 193-104.

The Penguins are back in action on Saturday when they compete against Cleveland State at 1 p.m. in Cleveland.
