Youngstown State Head Coach Ryan Purdy has signed six swimmers and a diver to a National Letter of Intent to join the Penguins' swimming and diving program in 2019-20.
YSU has signed Janessa Bringe (Visalia, Calif.), Noa Johnson (Round Rock, Texas), Birgitte Kammerdiener (Elmhurt, Ill.), Andrea Lindemann (Temecula, Calif.), Carsyn Siefert (Springboro, Ohio), Aubrey Whitaker (Mason, Ohio) and Olivia Wilcox (Mantorville, Minn.) to NLIs. The group represents an impressive five states.
Kammerdiener is a diver while the other six signees will all contribute to the Penguins in the swimming events. Bringe is butterfly/IM specialist, Johnson will swim the breaststroke, Lindemann will swim the breaststroke, Siefert will swim freestyle, Whitaker is also a freestyle swimmer and Wilcox is strong in the backstroke and the freestyle.
Janessa Bringe | Visalia, Calif.
Bringe can compete in a variety of events for the Penguins. A senior at Visalia Early Tech High School and a member of the Tule Nation Tritons Swim Club, she swims in freestyle, IM and butterfly events.
Noa Johnson | Round Rock, Texas
Johnson's specialty are the sprint events as she focuses on the 100-yard and 200-yard disciplines in all four events. She competes in all four strokes for the Nitro Swimming Club and Round Rock High School.
Birgitte Kammerdiener | Elmhurst, Ill.
Kammerdiener is the lone diver to sign with YSU in November. She competes for York Comm High School and Windy City Diving. She has made two appearances at the Illinois High School Association State Championships. Holds the school record in the one-meter event.
Andrea Lindemann | Temecula, Calif.
Lindemann is a talented breaststroker who attends Great Oaks High School and swims for North Coast Aquatics. She had a sixth-place finish at the California CIF Central Section Division 2 State Championships in the 100-yard breaststroke. She has a top time of 1:05.06 in the 100-yard breast and 2:26.53 in the 200 breast.
Carsyn Siefert | Springboro, Ohio
Siefert is a freestyle swimmer who competes at Xenia High School and the Coffman Family YMCA.
Aubrey Whitaker | Mason, Ohio
Whitaker attends William Mason High School and swims for the Mason Manta Rays. She competes in the freesytle, IM, backstroke and butterfly. She was a two-event finalist at the Southwest Districts placing fifth in the 100-yard freestyle and eighth in the 200 freestyle. She had personal-best times in each event.
Olivia Wilcox | Mantorville, Minn.
Wilcox competes in the sprint freestyle and backstroke events for the Rochester Swim Club.
