The Youngstown State swimming and diving team will be in action on Friday and Saturday against Illinois and Saint Francis at the Beeghly Natatorium. The meet is the final home event for seniors Haley Fisher, Zsani Csado, Rachel Shipp and Taylor Tofil.
Friday's first event is scheduled for 5 p.m. while Saturday will get underway at 11 a.m. Prior to Saturday's events, the four seniors will be honored.
YSU was last in action in late November at the Magnus Cup Invitational in Cleveland. Saint Francis was last in action on Jan. 12 against Seina while Illinois competed against Notre Dame and Iowa on Jan. 11.
The Penguins competed in a meet last year at Illinois and have swam against Saint Francis in 17 of the past 18 seasons. After facing each other in a dual meet every year since 2000, the schools did not swim against each other last year. YSU defeated the Red Flash 154-140 in January 2017.
Last time out at the Magnus Cup Invitational, Tiphaine Saint-Gilles led the way for the Penguins placing fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.11 and seventh in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:19.78. Both of YSU's divers - Tess Weiskopf and Kayla Wrasman placed in the top 15 in the one and three-meter events at the Magnus Invite.
