Nsimba Advances to ITA Midwest Regional Main Draw With Three Wins

East Lansing, Mich. - Youngstown State junior Noelly Nsmiba won three qualifying matches en route to reaching the main draw of the ITA Midwest Regionals hosted by Michigan State.

Nsimba beat Cleveland State's Victoria Bension 6-2,3-6,7-6 (5) in the first round. In the second round, she defeated Eastern Michigan's Ani Gogvadze 6-0, 6-4. On Friday, her victory over Wisconsin's Melissa Pick by a 6-3, 7-6 (6) score advanced her into the main draw.

Nsimba opens main draw play tomorrow against Sydney Rider of Wisconsin at 10 a.m. The winner of that match takes on the No. 1 player, Michigan's Brienne Minor at 1:30 p.m.

Dominika Lackova and Sofia Macias also won their first qualifying match before losing in the second round.

In doubles play, Nsmiba and Stroe dropped an 8-7 contest to Cleveland State while Lakova and Macias lost an 8-3 contest against Ohio State.
