Imaan Hassim Named Academic All-Horizon League

Youngstown State sophomore tennis player Imaan Hassim has been named to the Horizon League All-Academic team for women's tennis, the league announced on Thursday.

Hassim is 17-14 this season in singles play and is 12-8 in dual matches. She has won all seven of her league singles contests this year. In doubles play she is 19-12 this year, posting a 11-8 mark in dual matches and is 5-1 in the Horizon League.

"I am extremely proud of Imaan for her excellence both on and off the court," YSU head coach Mickael Sopel said.

In her two years with the program, she has won 33 singles matches and 33 doubles contests.

The native of Johannesburg, South Africa, maintains a 4.00 GPA as a Biology major at YSU.

The Penguins have their final two regular-season matches of the season this weekend at UIC and IUPUI.
