Youngstown State sophomore Imaan Hassim was named the Horizon League Women's Tennis singles player of the week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Hassim rallied for a three-set win over Akron's Anna Uljanov on Thursday. At No. 4 singles, Hassim took the first set 6-4 before dropping the second set, 6-3. In the decisive third set, Hassim trailed 4-1 before rallying for a 7-6 (2) win. Her match was the decisive point in the Guins' 4-3 win over the Zips. It was YSU's first win at Akron since 2000.
YSU (6-9) opens Horizon League play on Saturday against Milwaukee. The Guins also play host to Green Bay on Sunday.
