The Youngstown State women's tennis team plays host to Akron on Tuesday afternoon at the Western Reserve Racquet Club in Streetsboro. First serve is set for 1 p.m.

The Penguins (3-11) have played some strong competition of late. YSU's last five opponents are a combined 45-16 and each have at least eight wins on the season. The Zips (14-3) will be another strong test for the Guins. Akron enters Tuesday dual on a six-match winning streak. The Zips have four wins against Horizon League foes this year.

This is YSU's final non-league contest of the season. The Penguins open Horizon League play on Saturday when they visit Green Bay. This is the Guins' third contest against a Mid-American Conference foe this season (Ball State and Toledo).

Series Notes:

  • Last season, the Penguins defeated the Zips, 4-3 on March 15. The victory propelled YSU to an eight-match winning streak.
  • All-time, YSU is 6-24 against Akron dating back to 1983. Two of the wins have come in the past five meetings.
