YSU Resumes Dual Match Play Against Ball State, Dayton

The Youngstown State women's tennis team plays a pair of matches this weekend on the road as YSU visits Ball State on Saturday and Dayton on Sunday.

The match against the Cardinals (2-1) is set for 4 p.m. at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center while the dual with the Flyers (0-1) is set for the Five Seasons Sports Club at 10 a.m.

YSU (1-2) opened the season last week with a 5-2 loss at Pittsburgh, a 6-1 win over St. Bonaventure and a 6-1 loss at Duquesne.

Sophomore Lucia Zagar had a strong opening weekend posting a 3-0 record at No. 5. Tamara Teufl won two of her three singles bouts at the No. 2 spot in the lineup. At No. 1, Imaan Hassim won agianst St. Bonaventure, but dropped tough three-set matches to the Panthers and Dukes. At No. 4, Elvira Esteo played three three-set matches in her first weekend.

Series Notes

  • The Penguins are 2-7 all-time against Ball State and have never won in Muncie in five trips. YSU won last year's match 5-2.
  • YSU last won at Dayton on March 21, 2015. The teams did not play last year, but have played 17 matches all-time. YSU leads the series, 9-8.
