The Youngstown State women's tennis team plays host to Cleveland State on Saturday at the Western Reserve Racquet Club in Streetsboro. First serve is set for 5 p.m. This is the first match a three-match home stand for the Guins.
The Penguins (4-13 overall and 1-1 in the Horizon League) will be looking to bounce back following a 5-2 setback at Milwaukee last Sunday. The Vikings (8-7, 2-0) beat Green Bay and Milwaukee last weekend and are one of just two unbeatens in the league after the opening weekend (UIC is also 2-0).
YSU last lost back-to-back Horizon League matches in April 2013. That year the Penguins dropped a 4-3 decision at Milwaukee and fell 4-3 to UIC in its next match.
Against the Vikings, YSU has won three straight in the series, including a pair of victories last year. The Penguins have won eight of the last nine contests vs. CSU.
The Guins have not been at full strength all spring and had two players miss last weekend's matches. Lucia Zagar sat out after suffering an ankle injury while Anastasiia Khokhlova has been sidelined with a broken foot the entire spring.
Tamara Teufl leads the Guins with seven wins this spring while Zagar, Khamassi and Elvira Esteo have five victories each. Esteo picked up a victory at Milwaukee after YSU won the doubles point against the Panthers.
YSU also plays Detroit Mercy and Oakland the weekend of April 6-7.
